Sonja is very excited to be joining the Physiotherapy team at Children in Motion in September 2019 on a part time basis. She qualified in 1994 with a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and worked in South Africa in a variety of fields with a special interest in rehabilitation. Sonja moved to the UK in 1999 and has been working as a children’s physiotherapist in the NHS since 2000. She finds her career humbling as she has been privileged to be part of the lives of children, young adults and their families that are often going through life-changing circumstances. This has given her a different perspective on life and what is important and has shaped her as a person. Sonja is passionate about providing holistic care for children and young adults in order to improve their quality of life and enable them to reach their potential.
Sonja has attended the following post graduate courses: Foundation paediatric Bobath course, Paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy MSc module at University College London, Paediatric neurodevelopmental physiotherapy MSc Module at University College London, Paediatric gait analysis and orthotic management, Physiotherapy approach to treatment of dyspraxia, APPI Kids and Teens Pilates, APPI matwork level 1, Administration and scoring of the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM).
